Collaboration Templates Upgrade

Collaboration Templates are tools in Fortix that help teams work together faster and more efficiently. With the latest upgrade, creating collaborations has become quicker, easier, and more reliable.
Previous vs. New Collaboration Template
Aspect | Previous Collaboration Template | New Collaboration Template |
Form Loading | Always loaded full collaboration form (slow, heavy). | Quick Collaboration via icon → submits in background without loading full form. |
System Load | High (multiple Ajax calls, CSS, images, TinyMCE). | Lightweight (runs server-side, only loads form if needed). |
Progress Indicator | None → users didn’t know if action was processing. | Loader/greyed-out indication shows progress. |
Error Handling | Errors appeared only after form loaded. | Form loads only if errors exist, so users can fix directly. |
Data Accuracy | Risk of showing old/stale Work Request state if form stayed open. | Form auto-resets when using a template → always fresh data. |
Field Validation | Some values (e.g., Effort to Completion) could reset incorrectly. | Improved validation ensures values remain consistent. |
Page Updates | Components didn’t refresh properly. | Work Request components (status, info) reload after template use. |
What Are Collaboration Templates?

Collaboration Templates are pre-defined formats for creating collaborations. They save time because you don’t have to manually fill in all the details every time.
Think of them like a form you fill out once, and then you can reuse it whenever you need.
How You Can Create a Collaboration
There are two ways to create a collaboration:
1. Normal Method (Using the Form)
- Click the template icon.
- The Collaboration Form opens.
- Review or update the details.
- Click Submit to create the collaboration.
Use this if you want to double-check the information before submitting.

2. Quick Method (Using the Arrow Icon)
- Click the arrow icon above the template.
- The collaboration is created instantly in the background.
- The page updates automatically to show the new collaboration.
Use this when you want to save time and don’t need to check every detail.

Permissions
There are two types of permissions for Collaboration Templates:
- CollaborationTemplatesUse → Allows a user to use Collaboration Templates (view and apply them on the Work Request page).
- CollaborationTemplatesManage → Allows a user to manage Collaboration Templates (add, edit, delete, and access the main ?collaboration_templates page).
In short: Use = apply templates; Manage = create/edit templates.

Summary
The Collaboration Templates Upgrade makes teamwork faster and more efficient by:
- Reducing repetitive data entry
- Allowing quick creation of collaborations
- Providing visual feedback when the system is working
- Handling errors gracefully
Use the normal method when you need to review details, and the quick method when speed is more important.
